The first topic of discussion was whether or not the White House should release the pictures of bin Laden after he’d been shot to death. Barbara said the last time an issue like this was debated was when the pictures of Abu Gharab came out. Barb thinks the pictures of bin Laden will as well but thinks the most important thing is context and how do you explain it to young kids. Joy wonders if the release will inflame more terrorism. Sherri thinks the release will quiet some of the skeptics who don’t think he was killed. Hasselbeck wrote some weird poem to help her if her kids asked her about it.
Whoopi then talked about the “western” items found in Laden’s coupond, i.e. Coca Cola, Pepsi, high end shampoos. Barbara asked what happened to him being in a cave? Joy joked Laden was living like Hugh Hefner.
Next topic was some comment Palin made where she gave the credit of bin Laden’s capture to former President Bush. Hasselbeck acted confused, wondering if she was referring to Obama too. Joy told her Palin never mentioned Obama’s name and joked that it was against Palin’s religion. Barbara noted that Pres. Obama had the courage, guts and collness to do what Clinton and Bush did not. Joy rightly noted that Bush gave up his search for bin Laden, which Hasselbeck challenged. Joy recalled Bush saying how he did not care about bin Laden and does not spend time on it.Whoopi noted that President Obama invited Bush to attend an appearance at Ground Zero tomorrow, but Bush declined.
After break, they discussed the hat Beatrice (Sara Ferguson’s daughter) wore to the Royal Wedding. Joy said it wasn’t a hat, it’s a towel rack. Sherri was also critical of her makeup. Barb talked about the many hats she tried on while in London and how normal it was to wear one in, but said when she got home she thought she looked ridiculous. Whoopi, who wears hats as well, said she looks good in her hats.
They then discussed last night’s”Dancing with the Stars”. Kendra got voted off and Sherri thinks Kirstie Alley will make it to the end.
Whoopi then discussed how the U.S. is one of the only countries that does not have basic rules protecting our privacy while online. Joy noted that we still continually shop and give out [credit card] numbers out. Sherri said the laws are always changing. Barbara read some scam email asking for money. Whoopi then alerted us to an email going around claiming to contain the death photos of bin Laden. DO NOT OPEN IT, it is a virus that will wreck your computer. Delete it!
