What’s On Tv Tonight? A Chance To Help The Homeless

Posted by ImaJustSaying on March 1, 2011

Help Our Cause by Watching Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel Tomorrow Night at 9!

Andrew Zimmern, host of the Travel Channel’s hit show, Bizarre Foods, knows what it’s like to be homeless. Before becoming famous, the James Beard Award winner spent time living on the streets of New York, himself.

When Andrew read about our story, he contacted us to see how we could partner with the Travel Channel to raise awareness of homelessness and money to support our efforts to end it. That’s where you come in!

WE NEED YOU to watch the San Francisco episode of Bizarre Foods tonight, March 1st, at 9pm EST. For every viewer who watches this episode, Travel Channel will donate 10 cents to the Campaign, up to $100,000!

Andrew’s support for vulnerable homeless populations has become a cornerstone of his philanthropic interests. During the San Francisco episode of Bizarre Foods this season, Andrew experiences local practices that help serve homeless communities. Along the way, Andrew will remind viewers about the Campaign’s work and the reasons that both he and the Travel Channel have become strong allies in the fight to end homelessness.

Right now, roughly 110,000 people are chronically homeless, living on the streets or in shelters and in desperate need of housing and medical treatment. The lethality of street homelessness is on par with some forms of cancer, cutting an average of 25 years off the lifespan. Meanwhile, the annual public cost of letting people remain homeless is astronomical, far exceeding the cost of supportive housing.

With your help, we are mobilizing communities across the country to find and house 100,000 of the most vulnerable and long-term homeless Americans by July of 2013.

Tune in tonight to help us raise the money we need to make an end to homelessness a reality!

Wonder what he ate when he was on the streets?

Didn’t mean that to sound so callous. Just wondering if that’s what started his bizarre food interest.

    Gross Jelly;)
I will watch tonight. Andrew lives in my home state of Minnesnowta. Loved the episode he filmed here, he went to one of the local churches and ate lutefisk. Priceless.

This winter is killing me Dy. Snow upon more snow. We had one week of nice temps that lulled us back into caring about life and then it hit us with another foot of snow. My younger two keep asking if there will be “grass” tomorrow. If spring doesn’t start soon I am going up to PA to strangle Puxatony Phil.

Looks like Temple Beth Frankel’s ratings were not what they expected or called, so so, it seems the charm may be wearing thin like Temple B’ hair. and from the comments said here it looks like she has gotten to be more grating, manic and annoying since the last time she graced the tv. Oopsi!!!!

  14. I hope everyone had atleast their other tv on tonight tuned into the show here that would help the homeless. It was a great cause and hope many people tuned in. I can only hope the charity raised enough funds to the maxed 100k. I am hoping other outlets got the word out to optimize the charity.. lets only hope..

  15. Bryan said

@14, Nope didn’t even have them on.

  16. Bryan.. well its always an opportunity to do something for our country.. sorry you didnt feel the same way.. Homelessness is an issue and not a way to live. Especially in todays economy.. You cant turn your back on people who are a growing trend just due to the economy..

  17. Bryan said

Because I didn’t watch this show, that says to you, I have no compassion for the homeless, thats a big reach, I don’t need to have some TV show tell me to give to homeless, hunger, getting kids to read, proper school lunches, NOH8, and AIDS awareness, all important issues to me that I have given time and money too here in San Diego.

  22. Lord have mercy Bryan, I dont need a resume of good duin. You cant assume what you may think what I am assuming. I was just stating that it was a good cause and collectively it makes an impact for this cause. If you want to go toe to toe with resume’s, I support hang toe nails, boils and donate to the idiocracy crusade to end public flatulence.

Coffe FIRST – LMAOOO!!!! You fell into the gene pool of avatars and I have nothing to do with it! 😉 Not sure what lil monster you are.. 😉

    • IJS – I was not aware of your support for hang nails. I am firmly against them and now pledge to do as much and a little more in my crusade against them as you do for them. This means, war, bitches! And you know what helps in times of war? Healthy feet. Booyah!

  23. Bryan said

@22 yeah and all I said, was “I didn’t have the tv on”., you assumed I wasn’t “feeling the same way” so I wasn’t assuming anything, I was replying from you actual comment and first from this post about watching this on “one of your tv’s” I didn’t see this post till after this show had come and gone.

  24. Its all good Bryan!

Peeps.. I have been looking for any results and so far none.. it would be good to identify the results and see if peeps tuned in. I give another day before I abandon..

  25. Jelly...Peanut butter and Jelly....Jelly bean...whatever! said

    @19 Coffee….it could be worse————————————————————>

  26. Tinsel Head!!! Well I said support, not donate. now I did donate to the idiocracy crusade to end public flatulence. That is a cause I.. er um.. stand behind…?? lmaooo

  27. Jelly...Peanut butter and Jelly....Jelly bean...whatever! said

@27 Me too…I am all for ending public and private flatulence. Total ban and highly enforced!

  28. PBJ… I am all for supporting peeps… but not sure if I can stand behind the perps.. 😉

  29. Bryan said

@28 Neigh Neigh needs to be the first one arrested for commiting the flatulence crime.

  30. G-sus said

@ IJS I fell asleep during that RH show that shan’t be mentioned. Says a lot about it. But I did set my DVR for the show and I hope that counts.

@ Coffee I believe your avatar is what happens AFTER you have your morning cup of joe;)
