Hosts at the table: Whoopi, Sherri, Elisabeth, Barbara

I missed the first few moments of the show because of another press conference regarding the schooting here in Tucson, AZ. They gave updates about the recovery of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. The show resumed at the part where they were Sherri was talking about once you tell a friend [you saw their spouse cheating], your friend has to do something. Hasselbeck was saying she’d go to the person cheating and say she knows what’s going on and I’m gonna “kick your ass”. Barb thinks you lose either way; if you tell, they hate the messenger. If you don’t, then you’re not really a best friend. She advised to mind your business. Hasselbeck bemoaned the idea that you’d go thorough your whole life and your best friend would not tell you your spouse cheated and you have a husband that is lying to you. Barb said many wives say it’s ok for their child to cheat, they just don’t want to know. Sherri thinks it’s ok if it’s just one time. Hasselbeck said “Bullcorn” is what she says to that. Sherri said it’s not always black and white. To that, Whoopi joked at the this table it is. Colorblind Barb said she does not think that way, that is one of the good things about her upbringing. Whoopi then gave her opinion on the subject, saying if she saw someone [cheating], she’d go up to the person and tell them how bad it looks. She thinks it’s not her job to tell her friend what she saw. Hasselbeck said that Barb should at least want to know so she could use it against him. en asked if she would want to know, Barb said it depends on how long they were married.

Next topic was “The Game“; a TV series that airs on BET. The show had been off tv for TWO years and returned to the network for the first time yesterday. Last season, it only got 1.7 million viewers, but after a Faceook campaign to get it back on air, BET picked it up. Last night’s premiere season bought in 7.7 million viewers and Sherri feels maybe if executives put more money behind a show that it will succeed.
By the way, I watched the show and it was a huge disappointment. Hopefully it will get better as time goes on.

Joy appeared via Skype. She is still in Las Vegas judging the Miss America pageant and talked about how she won money in Blackjack until Steve showed up. Sherri mentioned some porno awards show that is also occuring in Vegas and asked Joy if she was there. Joy joked that she was not there but a lot of guys in trenchcoats would come up to her, saying they loved her work. Joy also discussed the various talents of the people in the Miss America pageant.
Joy will return to the show next week.

The first guest to appear was director Ron Howard. Ron has a new movie starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James called “The Dilemma“. It is about two best friends who are tested when one finds his friend’s wife is cheating. Ron has been married 35 years and said he would want someone to tell him if he was being cheated on. He said the idea of the movie actually came when his business partner, Brian, was walking down the street and saw someone that looked like Ron’s wife with a big buff guy. When he saw it wasn;t, he was releived and then told Ron. At a dinner later, they shared the story and it ignited a conversation about the issue.
Ron was asked about the line “Electric cars are gay” that Vaughn initially used in the trailer of the movie but was later removed. Ron said he was surprised at the reaction and said the evaluation was completely out of context of the movie. He also said it was a piece of advertising and they were not commited to the line. He also said it was a serious issue and those that were raising the point were using popular entertainment to take a position that he found valid and thought people should speak up. As such, he agreed with Universal when they removed it.
There was a lot of improv in the movie and Ron said he had a really good time with it. He said it’s a joy to watch people who do it well. He also said the movie is a comedy but it also deals with the truth and has emotional moments.
Ron has four children, to who are acting. He said he is very proud because they are doing what they love to do in a healthy way.
For those that do not know, Ron Howard was in “The Andy Griffith Show”. He played Sherriff Taylor’s son “Opie”. He said the mention of his name by Ronald Reagan is what led to him getting the opportunity to do “The Andy Griffith Show”.
“The Dilemma” is in theaters now.

Mike Sorrentino was the first guest. Mike stars in the MtV reality series “The Jersey Shore” and is best known as “The Situation”. Mike discussed the first episode of the new season, mentioning how the new roomate Deena got naked for him the first night. He said she has good taste, but he did not want to take her up on her offer because he wants to hold himself the best he could. He acknowledges “The Jersey Shore” is a party show and there is a certain level of expectations on it. They then showed a scene from tonight’s episode where Situation is trying to “get some action”. However, Vinny beat him to the girl, so he goes downstairs to talk to Snooki and Deena. Deena then offered herself to Mike but he turned her down. Despite being known as a player, The Situation said he has been in a 3 year relationship before and would love to be in one again. He has a lot of money now and said it is pretty hard to find a significant other because at times he wonders about the women pursuing him.
The Situation showed his “Gym Tan Laundry” bag, which he patented.
“The Jersey Shore” airs tonight on Mtv.

That concludes today’s show. Have a great day!
