Originally aired Friday, December 10, 2010 Contributor – Stacee

On Today’s Show: Lisa Ling, Denis Leary, female hair loss prevention, Macy’s gift ideas

Hosts at the table: Whoopi, Joy, Sherri, Elisabeth

The show started off with Hasselbeck lamenting how her son Taylor gave up his Binky, got a toy and then cried for it back. She gave in and retrieved it from the garbage and is now complaining that she gave in. Whoopi wondered what’s wrong with having the Binky. Sherri said she told Jeffrey that she gave his old Binkies to Isaiah (Hasselbeck’s youngest). Ew. She said taking them away was hard and she had to ignore the tears.

She then talked about he cried because he did not want to go to school earlier this week and she allowed him to stay home. She said the tears bother her. Joy said he’s only a baby. Sherri said when you give in because of the tears; they know the next time that is how they will get their way. Whoopi says the school days are long.

Former “Baywatch” star Donna Derico was picked out of an airport lineup for a pat down. The TSA agent told her she “had caught his eye”. Sherri thinks the scanner is very revealing. Whoopi said if someone is turned on by someone based on the body scan, they should just buy a skeleton. (Don’t ask, I did not understand either) Joy asked what happens if a guy has taken Viagra.

Former View host Lisa Ling appeared first. Lisa was there to talk about her miscarriage six months ago. She called it shocking to have had that happened and said she felt like a failure. At first, she was uncomfortable talking about it but found once she did, people were very supportive. She also found a lot of her friends experienced the same yet no one talked about it. Lisa hopes people can get to the place where women can discuss it because it’s a great to find comfort in other people’s experiences.
Lisa has started a website called SecretSocietyofWomen.com. It is a place for women to talk about issues they can’t share with others. She said it’s only been up for a couple of weeks and the most popular topic is women not having sex with their husbands. Her hope is women will contribute to offer some wisdom and advice.
Lisa also addressed her sister, who was rescued for North Korea last year. She said her sister is doing fine and had a baby a few months ago.

Actor Denis Leary appeared next. He had a shorter haircut, explaining he will be playing the dad of Spiderman’s girlfriend in the latest Spiderman installment. . Denis came on to discuss his new book “Suck on this Year”. He describes it as being funny with lots of pictures. The book also features Tweets of things he’s said, which is something his wife advised him to do. After he accumulated a few, he figured he could compile what he’s said into books and make money. Denis says the book is an easy read and could be something taken in the bathroom. They featured one that said ”Excellent argument for separation of church and brain”, referring to Sarah Palin. Denis said he could have filled the book with many regarding Palin, but his publisher peeled it back.

Macy’s Martine Reardon was there to discuss gift ideas. Items she showed were:

In the final segment, Dr. Doris Day appeared to discuss ways to prevent female baldness. Doris said up to 50% of women by age 50 start losing their hair. She said women keep the frontal hairline and lose it in the crown.
Dr. Doris explained the different patterns of hair loss:
